Tenth of fifteen in the series, in Look-aheads, the Gantt and files. Each mark’s length is its running time.

TRANSCRIPTEvery word of the video, as text.

Exporting a schedule from PC.o: the same plan in another format, cleaned of what need not travel. Files, like luggage, benefit from being lighter.

Open a row's menu and choose Convert/Clean. Download, just below, gives back the original as uploaded. EXPORT TO offers Primavera P6 as XER or XML, MS Project XML, or Excel. Choose XER first.

P6 to P6 shows the whole toolkit: a version, global conversions, remove POBS, and sixteen clean-up options. Hover an option for what it does. Some have consequences; the tooltip is candid about them.

Global conversions ticks a ready-made set: global codes to project codes, or every global code removed. The preset ticks four rows; add or clear any by hand, and pick the version the receiver runs.

Download. The server converts, and a zip named after the project arrives, one file inside. Promptly. MS Project XML and P6 XML need no options at all: choose, and download. Simplicity, for once.

Excel brings its own choices: the WBS column, costs, late dates. Every activity, one row each. Download Multi, under Files, zips several files and folders at once; the originals, untouched.

That was exporting a schedule. Next in the Guide: custom reports, where you decide what a report contains.
