Costs and the live cashflow

Choose the Costs columns, read the Cost summary, open View, Cashflow, flip it to Quantity, filter it, and watch it move when the schedule does; actual units fill actual cost, and the headline strip shows EAC and CPI.

TRANSCRIPTEvery word of the video, as text.

Assigned work has a price, and the price has a shape in time. The cashflow redraws itself whenever the schedule moves.

Open Columns and choose Costs: budgeted, actual, remaining, estimate at completion, variance. Filled for each assigned activity, and added up on the summary row above.

Cost summary: the project total and its WBS row; CPI waits for actual cost. Choose View, Cashflow for the live chart, built from the schedule as it stands now.

The columns are each month's money; the dashed line is the running total. The Cost button flips the chart to Quantity: units instead of dollars.

Pick Crew in the resource filter to narrow the chart; cost type, WBS and activity filter too. Lengthen Mobilise by ten days and the cashflow moves with it. Nothing to run, nothing to reload.

Enter actual units and the actual cost fills; remaining falls to match. Under the i: EAC, the expected final cost; CPI, value earned against money spent.

That was costs and the cashflow. Next in the Guide: curves and periods, and how a cost spreads over time.
