Excel in and out

Export the Gantt as a workbook, download a three-week look-ahead from the viewer, and open an Excel schedule with Edit: the upload banner, the Excel banner and the Constraint column explain how it becomes a schedule.

Excel goes both ways: a workbook out, a look-ahead for the site, and a spreadsheet schedule back in.

Excel gives the Gantt as a workbook, for anyone who lives in spreadsheets. To look without editing, click View, the Gantt icon on a row. It opens in a new tab.

The three-week look-ahead lives in the viewer: Export, 3-week look-ahead. From the data date, three weeks. Change either date, then download. Nothing is saved into PC.o.

The sheet is the site's week-by-week list, in the look-ahead template PC.o reads back. Excel comes in too: open an Excel schedule with Edit.

It is an upload: try things out, then Save as. The banner explains: dates are held by Start On constraints, and the sheet's links did not come across.

Add links, remove the constraints as you go, and the sheet becomes a schedule the engine can run.

That was Excel in and out. Next in the Guide: run the analysis, compare, and pin a baseline.
