Put people and machines on the activities, and the schedule can price them. First, the dictionary of what you have.
Open Resources: the dictionary, the assignments, and the summary. Choose Add…, fill in name, type, unit and price per unit, and Save.
Two resources in the dictionary: an excavator by the day, a crew by the hour. Select Excavate, then choose Assign resources… from the same menu.
Assign resources to Excavate, with units. The engine multiplies units by rate to make cost. The bars have not moved. Resources never move dates here; the costs follow the schedule.
The Details Resources tab shows the same assignments, editable in place. Type a new value into a cell: units, or a rate. Thirty hours for the crew, say.
That was resources and assignments. Next in the Guide: what they cost, and the cashflow that moves with the schedule.
