TRANSCRIPTEvery word of the video, as text.
A Microsoft Project file from the contractor, and a status update due by Friday. Simple mode, six columns, done in minutes.
Edit, on the file's row, opens it to try things out. The file itself stays as it is. It opens on the Standard engine, which behaves similarly to Microsoft Project in durations, milestones and summary rows.
Choose Simple on the pill: name, start, finish, duration, percent done, assigned to. Nothing else in the way. Fold the breakdown down to the rooms you need: mostly one-day tasks, with inspections as milestones.
Select an activity, press Details, and Basics is the whole story: dates, duration, percent done, what it follows. Something new on site? Type its name in the add row and press Enter.
Type what it comes after. This name appears seventeen times, so pick the one in your group. Picked, it takes its place: now starting the first of October, and the group finishes then too.
Now the data date. More opens Full mode, where it lives. In Full, the Schedule menu is back. Set data date sits below Schedule options.
On an uploaded file, Set data date asks first: Save as a PC.o Schedule, then carry on. Keep the suggested name and press OK. The contractor's file is untouched.
Type the new data date, the eighteenth of September, and Apply. Back in Simple, mark what happened: a hundred percent here, fifty there. Auto keeps the dates honest.
It saves as you go: All changes saved, bottom left. Share, top right, sends it on. Back in Files: the file as it came, and your update beneath it. Scenario one, done.
Next in the Guide: the same file in Full mode, where the Standard engine's options live.
