Two engines, one schedule. Here is what switching changes, what it never changes, and how to go back.
The badge says which engine runs this schedule. Advanced behaves similarly to P6 in activity types and float. Schedule, Switch engine, Convert to Standard. Nothing happens yet: the engine runs a dry run first.
The dry run counts what would change, and promises what will not: no dates move, or it refuses. Converted. The same dates, a different rule book, and a Revert button for a few seconds.
What changed is vocabulary and options: a finish milestone is simply a milestone here. Vocabulary moves with the engine: Driver reads differently, and Longest path is an Advanced column.
Standard behaves similarly to Microsoft Project in its options: hours per day, split tasks, honoured constraints. File, Export, Conversion log: an Excel file of every element that changed. Keep it with the schedule.
On a Standard schedule XER and P6 XML are greyed: those files are written from the Advanced engine. Pressed anyway, it says so: convert to Advanced first, then export.
Unscheduled changes grey the switch: Schedule (F9) first. An upload asks to be saved as a PC.o Schedule. Revert puts everything back, element by element. Edit after converting and the revert is refused: it says so.
That was the switch. Next in the Guide: a schedule from nothing, typed as a list.
